ABOUT HASHTAG MUSIC ACADEMY

  • Hashtag Music Academy was created from a simple and power idea:

Musicians grow best when surrounded by inspiration, structure, and opportunities.

Princeton and Montgomery are known for excellent education institutions, deep culture, and expressive arts. We saw a gap between traditional music institutions in old buildings, chain music schools in retail centers, and private tutors with limited collaboration and performance opportunities. So we created a modern music program for Princeton area students with structure, lightness, and availability to grow faster via an immersive experience.

  • At Hashtag Music Academy we recognize that top musicians have many dimensions, understanding multiple instruments, as well as the science, math, history, and storytelling. So students can currently choose two directions from piano, violin, and voice to become a multidimensional musician. Whether classical, pop, or jazz is of student’s interest they can pick a primary music focus and a secondary.

  • Focus, creativity, and marketing shape the way we teach to best prepare students for being a star in music or any field of their journey. They are the foundation for every music program at Hashtag Music Academy of Princeton.

  • At Hashtag Music Academy we are fair to all demographics and focus on merit. Princeton and its neighboring towns Montgomery, South Brunswick, West Windsor, Lawrenceville, Hopewell, and Pennington and richly diverse. While we do not discriminate acceptance into music programs based on age, race, religion, or ethnicity, we do recognize that music interests and goals may vary. For instance, we have higher expectations for growth, time dedication, and performance from youth who are in HMA music programs compared to adults who are in HMA programs.

  • At Hashtag Music Academy, we provide classes on-site in Princeton and online. We follow structured music curriculums, pre-planned stage performance schedules, and content creation classes for the Princeton NJ community. Music programs are taught by top conservatory-level music teachers offering the best international pre-college, pre-music competition, and pre-concert performance classes.

PRINCETON PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

Hashtag Music Academy has monthly opportunities to perform and create content either in school or at local spaces around town with grand pianos. This gives opportunities for responsibility, purpose, and reflection to students along their music journey. When students want to perform for their own grade school we get them prepared. We will partner with nearby schools like Princeton High School, Princeton Day School, Montgomery High School, Chapin School, The Wilberforce School, or The Hun School of Princeton to coordinate performance opportunities.

★★★★★

  • "With classes three days per week and frequent auditions in Princeton I thought it would be impossible for my daughter Priya to manage all activities. But my husband who learned Carnatic music when young insisted to letting her try. In one year she has become excited, confident, and self determined to learn and practice her instuments.”

    — Aparna P. (Parent of 8 Year Old Piano and Viola Student)

  • "Moving to the elementary level here—with classes three times a week—changed everything. He no longer hates practicing. The progress we’ve seen in six months here outpaces two years with his old teacher. It is how musical education should be experienced for all kids everywhere, not only in Princeton."

    — Elena M. (Parent of 10 Year Old Piano Student)

  • "Coming from Russia, where music education is rigorous, I expected Princeton's would be similar. But I felt my daughter’s old teacher was too nice and 'soft' so a friend recommended HMA in Princeton. We immediately noticed their serious curriculum—the teachers are charismatic and professional similar to Europe’s."

—Irina A. (Parent of 13 Year Old Student)

Artistry & Advanced Performance Pathway

For highly prepared students — often beginning around age 10+ — we offer an accelerated artistry pathway that can run alongside the academic levels. Entry is granted through a comprehensive assessment (technical foundations, musicianship, maturity, and consistency).
  • Artistic interpretation & musical storytelling
  • Stage presence, performance psychology, and projection
  • Repertoire planning, stylistic depth, and coaching
  • Portfolio readiness: recitals, recordings, auditions, and competitions (when appropriate)
